Level 2: The Alchemy of Individuation

Take your coaching mastery to the next level with Level 2 of the Advanced Coaching Program, where the transformation journey deepens and expands. Building on the foundation you developed in Level 1, Level 2 focuses on:

  1. Learning to practice Aletheia Somatic Work in a way that extends your practice of unfoldment.

  2. Providing a powerful developmental container for deepening your embodied realization of the primary qualities of Presence.

Somatic Work is a gentle and powerful ecology of practices for embodying and feeling the truth, beauty, and goodness of what is surfacing in a way that results in a spontaneous deepening of contact, autonomy, resourcefulness, creativity, and wisdom. In Aletheia, Somatic Work is practiced in a trauma-sensitive way and informed by recent discoveries about the role of neuroplasticity in generating sustainable transformation.

The depth of your coaching depends on the depth of your own development. The development you experienced in Level 1 was only the tip of the iceberg. Level 2 will profoundly deepen your development, expand your range and depth as a coach, and enhance the power and effectiveness of your coaching.

All of your coaching clients are struggling with individuation issues.
— Steve March, founder of Aletheia

The journey of individuation

What is individuation? It is the essential process of unfolding a healthy ego—one that is uniquely individual, deeply connected to others and the world, and is an embodiment of innate wholeness. A person with a healthy ego has access to a treasure trove of innate resourcefulness, creativity, and wisdom that can be embodied and expressed to help them navigate the complexities of life.

As a coach, nearly all of your clients' challenges—whether they are struggling with worthiness, confidence, purpose, love, power, trust, belonging, identity, passion, or meaning—are individuation issues. These are the universal dilemmas of being human.

Individuation is the process of working through these issues through unfoldment. It requires sincerity, courage, and a willingness to explore the shadowed corners of one’s personality. But the reward is priceless: through individuation, you discover who you truly are, find your place in the world, and unlock the profound gifts you are here to offer.

Why Individuation Matters

In life, there are three primary developmental journeys:

  1. The Journey of Individuation: Unfolding a healthy, integrated ego (supported by ACP Levels 1 and 2).

  2. The Journey of Spiritual Realization: Awakening to your Nondual True Nature and learning how to embody and express realization through your ways of living, relating, working, and loving (supported by ACP Level 3).

  3. The Journey of Enlightened Living: Transcending the dichotomy of dual and Nondual to unfold life as an embodied expression of the Mystery of True Nature and an expression of Ultimate Freedom (supported by ACP Level 4).

In Aletheia’s approach, individuation is the necessary foundation for sustainable spiritual realization. Attempting to bypass this work in favor of spiritual awakening—a phenomenon psychologist John Welwood calls “spiritual bypassing”—leads, at best, to fleeting peak experiences but no lasting transformation. Without the foundation of a healthy ego, these glimpses of the awakened state can amplify the very blocks to sustainable spiritual realization.

Individuation cannot be skipped. It involves developing emotional self-awareness, softening ego defenses, healing wounds, deepening relationships, and stabilizing your embodiment of Presence. You can only sustainably move into the deeper work of spiritual realization if you first cultivate a mature and grounded ego.

Individuating is an imperative that drives us forward and, if successful, releases us from the trap of endlessly repeating patterns that have conditioned us.
— Murray Stein, Jungian psychoanalyst

The Alchemy of Individuation

Carl Jung described individuation as an alchemical process of separatio (differentiation) and coniunctio (integration)—an ongoing spiral of analysis and synthesis that brings you closer to an embodied realization of your innate wholeness. Aletheia Coaching offers an effective way to practice the alchemy of individuation:

  • Parts are the base metals of the personality, the raw material you begin with.

  • Through Parts Work, Process Work, and Presence Work these Parts are refined and purified through unfoldment.

  • Finally, they are transmuted into the gold of Presence, the fully integrated and embodied expression of innate wholeness.

This is why Level 2 is called “The Alchemy of Individuation.” Here, you’ll learn how to navigate and guide clients through this transformative process using Aletheia Coaching.

Through individuation, you discover the wonder of who you are. Through individuation, you take your place in the world.

I am so grateful for Aletheia Coaching, which has personally supported me to make some of the most important life decisions and encouraged me to make strong friendships with people in the course.

The enneagram of unfolding individuation

In Level 2, we draw on an ancient and profound tool: the Enneagram. While most approaches to the Enneagram only focus on personality types, Aletheia also uses it as a living process model for unfolding individuation. In Level 2 we explore how ego fixations are created by developmental disruptions during the process of ego formation. By understanding the deeper structure and origins of ego fixations, you’ll learn how to help clients uncover these early disruptions more skillfully and complete the interrupted development through unfoldment. This unleashes innate capacities that enable your clients to navigate the complexities of their lives with more effectiveness and fulfillment.

What makes the Aletheia approach uniquely powerful? Most Enneagram-based approaches attempt to balance the extreme behaviors of ego fixations by counteracting them. This approach always activates inner conflict and resistance. Success with this approach usually comes down to disciplined practice for extended durations. While this can work, many clients will struggle to overcome this resistance.

The Aletheia approach is different! Aletheia Coaching gently releases and transforms fixations using Parts Work, Process Work, and Presence Work. Instead of counteracting ego fixations, this approach enables Parts to feel seen, understood, loved, and valued exactly as they are. When this occurs, Parts spontaneously release and relax. Instead of activating resistance, this approach melts resistance, which unblocks spontaneous unfoldment. This innovative method allows for profound and lasting growth without unnecessary inner conflict.

Level 2 is an amazing learning environment. I was able to fully assimilate the Aletheia Coaching methodology. I am now confident I can continue to use it for my own personal development and with coaching clients. The breathwork we learned added to what I learned in Level 1 and makes Aletheia Coaching a robust and complete coaching method. Also, the systematic teaching on each Point in the Enneagram is very powerful. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and engaging. Highly recommended!

Somatic Practices for Neuroplastic Transformation

In Level 1, you learned how to support clients through conversational unfolding. In Level 2, you’ll go deeper, incorporating somatic unfoldment to unlock and integrate the body’s innate capacity for transformation.

Aletheia Somatic Work enables you and your clients to:

  • Identify and melt patterns of emotional armoring that block spontaneous unfoldment.

  • Amplify access to the flow of bodily felt senses.

  • Deepen the embodiment of qualities of Presence.

  • Open the memory reconsolidation window in the brain, enabling deep and enduring neuroplastic transformation.

Integrating this somatic work into your coaching will dramatically expand your ability to help clients experience lasting breakthroughs.

What You’ll Learn in Level 2

  1. Somatic Unfoldment: Learn how to support clients in melting emotional armoring in the body, embodying and feeling emotions, and transmuting emotional energy into qualities of Presence.

  2. Advanced Enneagram Work: Master the Enneagram process model, understand the roots of ego formation, and learn to skillfully work to release fixations naturally instead of activating resistance and amplifying inner conflict.

  3. Deepen, Expand, and Integrate: Deepen and expand your understanding and integration of the Aletheia Coaching method that you learned in Level 1.

  4. Unfold and Individuate: Accelerate the unfoldment of your own individuation so you can coach from a deeper place of authenticity, confidence, and Presence.

Level 2 is a transformative leap forward—not just in your coaching skills but also in your development as a human being.

Level 2 provides a powerful expansion of the Aletheia Coaching method. Like Level 1, it offers a brilliant integration of undisputed, long-established theories with precise, practical coaching moves. The combination is truly unique, comprehensive, and powerful.

How do I know I’m ready for Level 2?

This is one of the most frequent questions from Level 1 graduates. You do not need to have fully integrated Level 1 before proceeding to Level 2. In fact, one of the most common testimonials we receive from Level 2 graduates is how much it helped them integrate what they learned in Level 1. Level 2 is designed to pick up where Level 1 stops and to continue your developmental journey. It is the best way to deeply integrate what you learned in Level 1 while expanding your range with the method and deepening your own development.

WHEN DOES THE NEXT LEVEL 2 COHORT START?

Please review the schedule for the next cohort’s dates and application deadlines. Typically, we launch a new Level 2 cohort about once a year, usually in April.

WHAT TIME OF DAY ARE THE SESSIONS HELD?

Each cohort is offered in two sections (10 AM-Noon and 4-6 PM Pacific), allowing participation from around the world in different time zones. A typical cohort will include people from Asia, Australia, North America, and Europe.

HOW LARGE ARE THE COHORTS?

I was skeptical of my ability to reach the Depth of Presence after Level 1, but the work we have done in Level 2 around emotional armoring has revealed a way for me to access my emotions and felt senses more fully and deeply. As a result, I have had several powerful glimpses of Presence and I’m starting to feel more release from the limitations of my Parts.

What’s Next after Level 2?

Your journey of mastery doesn’t end here—it deepens and expands. Each level of the Advanced Coaching Program introduces a new dimension of unfolding, offering fresh perspectives and practices that enrich your understanding, elevate your skills, and deepen your impact as a coach.

By revisiting core principles through new angles, you’ll build a coaching practice that is both deeply flexible and profoundly transformative. The result? A level of mastery that sets you apart and allows you to intuitively meet your clients wherever they are on their journey.

A Path of Continuous unfoldment

  • In Level 1, you learned the foundation of Aletheia Coaching, focusing on conversational unfolding and developing yourself through the practice of unfoldment.

  • In Level 2, you integrated somatic unfolding and deepened your development and embodiment of Presence. This expanded your range, giving you the tools to work with both the mind and the body, unlocking deeper levels of transformation for your clients.

As you practice Aletheia Coaching, you’ll notice something extraordinary: clients naturally begin to deepen into Nondual Presence. This is where the next phase of your journey begins. To support this profound unfoldment, it’s essential to deepen your own development and learn to guide your clients skillfully into the Depth of Nondual Presence.

Level 3: the gradual path to sudden awakening

Level 3 introduces you to the transformative power of Nondual Work and the Aletheia Meditation System. This progressive meditation practice is designed to guide both you and your clients into deeper states of consciousness, moving skillfully through the Depths of Parts, Process, Presence & Absence, and into the Depth of Nondual Presence.

In this level, you will:

  • Learn how to facilitate Nondual Work, supporting clients as they deepen into Nondual Presence.

  • Learn how to practice Transmutation, Transparency, and Transfiguration, three of the four distinct styles of transformation in Aletheia Meta-psychology.

  • Through this, you will learn to inhabit all of your depth more consciously and begin to integrate Nondual realization into your everyday life.

  • Deepen your own development, as all Aletheia trainings support personal transformation.

Nondual Work is not just a theoretical practice—it is a practical, transformational approach that enables clients to experience life from a Nondual state of consciousness. This shift creates profound freedom, clarity, and ease as clients step beyond the limits of the ego and into the transformative truth of who they are.

After completing Level 2, I find myself being way less reactive. Catching myself as I’m triggered, being with, and feeling my emotions fully was just theory before Level 2. The breathwork I learned in Level 2 really helped. Oddly, I now find myself both more connected to and yet less attached to what is happening, whilst at the same time far more committed to what I’m up to. Hard to find the words to express this, but it’s been an incredible experience.
